The cyclo (xich lo) is an iconic form of transport in Vietnam, having a storied history from its introduction in the 1920s until the present day. Once ubiquitous across Vietnam, its fortunes changed after the 1980s when the nation switched en masse to the motorbike as the primary form of transport. Indeed, cyclos have been forced out of most cities in Vietnam.

In Hue, however, the cyclo lives on and we’re happy to offer travellers the opportunity to connect with local drivers and continue the story of this classic vehicle in Vietnam.
